18th March
An auction with over 100 items for sale was
conducted by Richard, Tony and John H, while the
annual club competition entries were on display at
the back.
Many small Commonwealth stamp lots were sold,
plus a few European ones. Bidding was light
although there was competition for a signed copy
of Hendy's early postmarks.
The Two-sheet competition was won by John P for a
display of "Madame Joseph" cancellations on pieces
with stamps of Gold Coast. The Six-sheet
competition was won by Rory with an early Leighton
Buzzard collection of covers entitled "Mysterious
Mileages".
There was no Nine-sheet competition owing to a
change in the rules of the Mid-Anglia Philatelic
Federation. The Nine-sheet entries on show will be
judged at the MAPF event and the club shield
awarded from those results.
18th February
The advertised evening of old exhibition displays
was replaced by one in which six members showed
off some of their collections. We were treated to
Machins, KG6 West Africa, the Titanic, Philatelic
Congress and much else.

21st January
Giles du Boulay returned with a display of Danzig
- this time centred on transport. Starting with
mail by ship, Giles went on to show the impact of
railways to Danzig, and then the coming of
airmail. One cover had fallen out of an aeroplane
but had been delivered with a note explaining the
delay. An interesting set of covers demonstrated
an attempted scam by the Danziger post office who
tried to screw more money out of recipients of
airmail letters in the 1930s by delivering them by
motorbike - totally unnecessary.
