November 21st. Switzerland: Richard Akers
Richard showed us Swiss Issues starting from the
very first definitive’s of the sitting Helvetia
and running through to modern day, The second part
of Richards display focused on the Swiss Army
Issues, A fascinating subject with a large number
of colourful stamps and material from the various
divisions of the Swiss Army.

October 17th Visit from Watford Philatelic
Society
Three members of the Watford society made the
journey to visit us on a grey autumn evening to
show a variety of subjects including Wayne Cox The
other side of stamps, Wayne showed how some
countries needed to take drastic steps during
times of war or economic turmoil and resorted to
printing stamps on paper intended for bank notes
or with maps printed on one side in fact any spare
paper that was available to them in large
quantities. Countries included Latvia, Nicaragua
Mexico, Spain, Ukraine, Communist China and
Russia.
Brian Thurlow displayed his collection of Spain
which he had built up from a small gift of stamps
acquired some years ago.
Brian Coates. Concluded with a varied display of
some unusual philatelic items which included-
Detailed post card size pictures from China made
with cut up postage stamps. f Postcards of the
N.W.railway, Victorian Bantam ˝ds, Cyprus
over/prints and various Perfins.
June 20th 2012 A.visit from High Wycombe
Five members of the High Wycombe society came to
give four displays which consisted of a display by
Ken Richardson of Irish covers featuring the
Chinese new year,Greece, Austria, and one GB
overprint which was a British A4 envelope covered
in decimal commemoratives each one individually
signed by the post sorter as a cancellation
John Ketley showed us Rocket mail with the title
of - Toys for boys - as most were on covers which
had been sent up in rockets for the amusement of
their inventors.
Stuart Catchpole showed British Commonwealth which
focused on the period of the 1930s
Alan Druce was the last on with his splendid
display of Great Britain. which started in 1663
and followed through with items such as Die proofs
and artwork from the 1840s including many 1d Black
and 2d blue variants,
They were accompanied by their Chairperson Joy
Hearn and together provided us with a memorable
evenings entertainment.
January 18th Hong Kong and Great Britain
Margaret Harris and Richard Page gave displays as
John Spencer who was due to show "Bristol
Channel". had other commitments,
Margaret showed Hong Kong and China with some
interesting postal history items of China and
included stamps from Hong Kong some with
overprints. Postmarks were of great interest as
China is now much sought after by the Chinese
themselves.
After the Break Richard showed a potted history of
British Philately from George lll to Elizabeth ll.
